“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”
    - Jimmy Dean
“Begin With The End In Mind” is habit #2 from Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. This habit is about having an eye on the goal and letting your proactive vision take you there.
What does that mean? Well, according to the Japanese translation of “Seven Habits” it means “Start with a Purpose” That is true, but there is more to it than just that. Most people have a purpose or reason for why they are doing something. Very few people just begin a project and not know why they are doing it. “Begin with the end in mind” has to do with “purposes” but it also has a great deal to do with visualization and prior planning; complete planning.
When we begin with the end in mind, we have a personal direction to guide our daily activities, without which we will accomplish little toward our own goals. Beginning with the end in mind is part of the process of personal leadership, taking control of our own lives.

All things are created twice. We create them first in our minds, and then we work to bring them into physical existence. By taking control of our own first creation, we can write or re-write our own scripts, thus taking some control and responsibility for the outcome. We write or re-write our scripts using our imagination and conscience.
