I can't even tell you how many times i've heard "i'm the boss" or "i'm in charge" "i'm the cheif" today WHY is it nessacery to keep reminding every1 of that fact?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try showing RESPECT to the employees and it's amazing how much further it will get you with them. my "boss" is never respectful to anyone she yells and bitches constantly but demands respect from everyone around her grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr how can we respect somone who has none to show???????? If you ask for help she will do that much usually however it becomes an excuse to bitch about you behind your back. Everyone is stupid in her eyes i think. And omg clothes noone dresses good enough for her. there's always a problem with they way people are dressed, and she doesn't tell ya in private she announces it to everyone standing within her voice. She makes me want to seriously QUIT but i do like my job so i put up with it, but for how long???????
Hey i have a boss like that too, so i know how you feel. mine has even gone as far as to tell me in front of customers that i dont know how to wash my laundry because my shirts were stained, nevermind that i work with yucky car parts all day.All i can say is try your best to stay away from her and if you cant then grin and bare it.
appleseed and kitty i am going to tell yall something from a bosses point of view. It does not matter where you work you need to look persentable at all times. And for me i would love for my people to come to my face and tell me if there is a problem but NO everyone has to go behind your back. And sometimes people take me as I am bitching but i am very loud and out spoken. And i would like to think i try to help everyone at my place of work out as much as i can. And know i am going to address kitty cause i know you are talking about me there is a such thing as laundry soap, and bleach. It does not matter if you work in yucky auto parts all day you are still working with the public and i know that i try to look my best at all times. And putting a brush through your hair in the morning is a plus. Know come 4.00 i can see if you dont look your best, but not at 8.00 in the morning. And i am sorry that you feel the way you do about me,but i do try to do my job to the best that i can. And i have never called you stupid, there is still things that i learn after being there for 18 years. And i thought we have came a long way in the past 3 months, sorry that you dont think so. Plus I have really tried helping you out as much as i can cause i know that you are new at what you are doing but know that i know how you feel i will just help the other girl so you dont think i am bitching at you.
Do you remember Tom Hanks saying "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." in his movie Forest Gump? :) While he was talking about all the surprises a lifetime can bring, the same might be said about the workplace, or more specifically bosses. If your boss is ballistic, he/she could be under pressure from his/her own boss he/she is still human right? and also keep in mind that if you ever run into a problem at work, it's more than likely that your boss will come in and will actually solve the problem for you. They don’t like to lose good people, because it will cost them money to hire and train someone else.
The bottom line is don't quit your job, there're good and bad bosses everywhere and many conflicts with the bad ones can be avoided easily. If she yells and bitches constantly, be clear and confident with her, ask her to talk in private. Here's a list of 13 types of bad bosses and how to survive them.
I think personalities come into play whether your are the boss or the employee. It is important to remember people's feelings and understand their people too. I always try to be fair and reasonable when dealing with employees. It seems to work, however there are times employees try to take advantage of my kindness. At that point it is time to make it clear that "I am the boss" I am here to do a job, just like you. The difference is I get my butt chewed for stuff I do, as well as the screw ups you make. I think everyone needs to put themselves into the shoes of the other person to really understand the dynamics of the workplace.
